Description

The Volatile Judge is one of the high beings that is a part of the Court of Chaos, a group that exists on another plane. The Court of Chaos is made up of a single species, known only as Chaos. This species can be identified by their tumorous bodies, which are always fused with pieces of robotics and machinery. The Court of Chaos is responsible for all anarchy and chaos within existence, their entire species causing the entropy and erratic ways of the universe.

The realm where the Court of Chaos resides is a place of endless marble halls, pillars and rooms. Some have described it a cross between a courthouse and a labyrinth. Here, the Chaos roam the halls and corridors, moving erratically and performing duties that often make no sense. But within this mess is a massive courtroom, where the Volatile Judge resides with the other highers. Within the court room, to an audience of seething tumor creatures, victims and prisoners are put on trial. These beings are captured during the war, or pulled from other dimensions for amusement. The trials held make no sense, have no structure, and are impossible to follow due to the endless gibberish that pours from the mouth of Chaos. The only thing somewhat consistent is that the case can be given to one of the three higher beings. The case can be reviewed by the Volatile Judge, the Erratic Jury, or the Chaotic Executioner. From there, the victim will either be deemed guilty or innocent. Guilty parties are given one of the billion possible sentences that their kind can give, and are often killed during the process. But occasionally, one being may be found innocent, in which they are given a piece of paper and then are flung out of the courtroom. The Volatile Judge's reviews involve lots of banging from his gavel, booming statements of nonsense, and the occasional yelling at the audience. He will sometimes point at the victim and give them a chance to speak, but it is unknown if anything anyone says can actually help their case. In some cases the Volatile Judge can deem someone guilty seconds after the trial even begins.

The Volatile Judge carries the Judge's Gavel, a massive hammer that is fused to his arm. This gavel is capable of causing time warps any time it is slammed down. The time warps jump time by only a couple of seconds, with the longest being about 30 seconds. This can be a jump back, forward or even a brief freeze of time. Jumps back will throw all sentient beings back to the places they were, still awake and aware of the jump. Jumps forward will put in them in positions they would have been, unaware of what events went down in the skipped time. These time jumps are often used during trials, where the Volatile Judge will wipe out certain statements, or rush things forward to a conclusion. The gavel is also used on the battlefield. The small time jump may seem negligible, but the random jump of times and places can allow the Volatile Judge to dodge attacks, or confuse opponents when they are teleported to a different spot.

The Volatile Judge is a part of the constant war between the Court of Chaos and the Council of Thought. The Court seeks to eradicate the Council and spread endless madness and anarchy to all of existence. Their chaotic fleets and soldiers fight the emotional and logical warriors of the Council, grinding the war to a constant stalemate. The Volatile Judge has been in hundreds of battles, and has been killed numerous of times. But Chaos minions retrieve his gavel and return it to their realm, where he eventually regenerates.

If defeated, the Judge's Gavel can be picked up and used by others. This is not recommended, as the time effects are random with each strike, and often are just as disorienting to the user as it is to the victim.

If I ever had an RPG, the higher beings of Chaos would be an optional boss. It would be against the Judge, Jury and Executioner, where each shake up the battle with random attacks, effects and buffs. If the defeated, the party would receive their respective tools. These weapons would be powerful, but also chaotic. The Judge's Gavel would be wielded by a strength-class and would lay some impressive damage. But each time the user attacks, there is a random chance that haste, slow, stun or freeze is cast on a random target. It might be all great when a teammate gets haste or an enemy is hit with slow, but there is an equal chance you could stun your team or end up buffing your enemies.
