Shmitty

An advanced Bdellis, Shmitty has formed intelligence that has elevated him over the feral minds of simpler Bdellis. This formation of sentience has grown slowly over the years, an effect built in by the Starborn. The primordial ooze he evolved from was designed to adapt and survive, pushing major formation in physical traits. But Bdellis who survive long enough in the sewers soon will reach a limit in physical design, at which point the cells will concentrate on mental abilities. Having survived for years, Shmitty is one of the several Bdellis that have reached the stage of sentience. He is capable of speech, strategy and planning, having grown beyond the realms of simple attacks and primal fury.

Shmitty has built his realm in the flooded levels, where he can easily burrow and dig in the mounds of concentrated filth. Combining his arms and tails allows him to slice through the sewage gunk, where he can quickly travel and ambush enemies. For attack, he relies on his digging and ambushes, but when on the surface, his toothy arms and spitting maw add to his arsenal. Those who face him should be wary when he buries himself, as he will soon explode from the ground, aiming to eviscerate foes with his spikes and teeth.  

Shmitty is very energetic and loves the games he plays with his prey. He overly enjoys stalking victims in the grime and his often heard laughing as he bursts through the sewage to confuse or kill his target. Despite his intelligence and joyous attitude, he still is driven by the programming that was infused in the living flow, and will always kill humans on sight.

This would be a boss in Rupture, a Bdellis that has evolved to the point of sentience. There are several others that have reached this point, but each with their own designs and ways of attack. This Bdellis block your progress, but are also reasons why other humans have had hard times reaching certain points. If our hero can defeat these intelligent Bdellis, than she can access areas that few have traveled in and where even fewer have survived.
